Gardeners will want to take steps to protect their plants Wednesday night into Thursday morning as temperatures could dip below freezing.
The National Weather Service at State College has issued a freeze warning for Centre County and most of north-central Pennsylvania from midnight to 8 a.m. Thursday.
“Take protective measures now as freezing temperatures could damage or kill tender plants and vegetation,” the warning states.
Potted plants should be brought inside and any sensitive vegetation that cannot be moved should be covered, according to the NWS.
AccuWeather forecasts overnight lows for the State College area just above freezing at 33 degrees, but closer to and north of Interstate 80 temperatures are expected to fall below 32.
Thursday and Friday are expected be sunny and seasonable, with highs in the upper 60s to low 70s and lows in the upper 40s to low 50s.
