Progress Grange will hold its third annual Children’s Fair from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday on the grounds of the Grange Hall, located at 217 S. Pennsylvania Ave. in Centre Hall.
This event features games and displays hosted by various youth and civic groups from the area. According to event organizer Dennis McCloskey, 12 different games will be available at the fair. A bounce house will be on the grounds and food and soft drinks will be available.
A visit from Centre County Sheriff Bryan Sampsel is scheduled, as well as Centre Hall Fire Company trucks and personnel and some military vehicles. Vendors, including the line of Usborne children’s books, will be located inside the Grange Hall.
According to McCloskey, funds raised from the fair will be used for refurbishing some deteriorating brickwork on the Grange Hall. McCloskey said that $1,400 in prizes will be given away throughout the day.
The idea for the Children’s Fair came from McCloskey’s daughter, Alaina, after she saw the longstanding Children’s Fair event in Bellefonte.
“She thought it would be a good idea to try in Centre Hall,” said McCloskey. Grange Children’s Fairs were held in 2017 and 2018, and were successful events.
Sponsors for the Children’s Fair include banks, restaurants, churches, several civic groups and many businesses in Centre County.
