Driving through Houserville may take you some extra time beginning on April 1. PennDot says it’s closing a 114-foot-long bridge on Houserville Rd in College Township. The bridge crosses Spring Creek and is considered “structurally deficient.”
According to PennDot the Houserville bridge was built in 1961, making the span 52-years-old. The bridge carries an average of 1,950 vehicles every day. Traffic will be detoured onto nearby roads while the repairs are underway. You’ll have to take College Ave. to Shiloh Rd. and then Trout Rd to get around the construction.
Workers will replace the bridge decking, repave the surface and upgrade the guide rails. The repair work will be done by a Fort Littleton contracting company, George S. Hann & Son, Inc. If all goes according to plan the bridge will reopen in late June.
