A 21-year-old Penn State student will be charged with DUI and related offenses after she took a wings-delivery vehicle on a joy ride Wednesday, State College police said.
The incident began at 2:49 a.m. outside Canyon Wings, a quick-service eatery at 219 E. Beaver Ave., according to a police report.
Police said a delivery driver had left the vehicle idling outside the eatery while he briefly went inside. The 21-year-old passer-by soon jumped in and drove off with the car, according to the report.
She was caught shortly thereafter on the 600 block of South Allen Street, not far from her home, police said.
Police said the vehicle appears to be undamaged. The 21-year-old will be charged with DUI and the unauthorized use of a vehicle, they said.
Her name was not immediately released Wednesday; charges had yet to be formalized.
Such incidents happen with some frequency in the borough, police Lt. Keith Robb said.
