IQ Escape Room to Open in State College

IQ Escape announced Tuesday it will open a new escape room location in State College at the Hamilton Square Shopping Center.

Penn State alumnus Eric Lloyd and partner Corey Deasy already own four escape rooms in the Pittsburgh area. The new State College location will open in December.

“Penn State was a logical choice for our next location,” Lloyd said in a press release. “The games offer the perfect combination of a fun night out and a mental challenge, and I think they will be popular among students, professors, and locals.”

IQ Escape will also be a THON sponsor and plans to hold an annual $2,500 scholarship competition for students to submit ideas for new escape games.

Participants will be able to choose between three challenges:

1. Stealing Mona: The group must steal the Mona Lisa and escape within the time limit.
2. Contagion: It’s humanity’s last attempt for survival and the group must work together to a stop the disease before it destroys the human race once and for all.
3. CSI: The group must stop an agent who has gone rogue and traveled back in time to alter the outcome of the Civil War.

The Escape Room will cost $30 per person and will be open Wednesday & Thursday from 5 to 11 p.m., Friday from 4 to 11 p.m., and Saturday & Sunday from 10:30 a.m. to midnight.
