The newest store in the Manasquan, N.J.-based Jersey Mike’s Subs chain will open Wednesday in downtown State College, the company announced.
Located in the former Webster’s Bookstore Cafe space at 128 S. Allen St., the submarine-sandwich eatery will be open seven days a week, according to a news release. It will provide more than 30 local jobs, the release says.
Matt and Kristie Patterson, both Penn State alumni, are listed as its owners.
To celebrate the opening, the business is planning to host a five-day fundraiser starting Wednesday. Anyone who brings a fundraising coupon to the location will receive a free regular sub in exchange for a minimum $1 contribution to The Four Diamonds Fund, the company announced.
Ten thousand fundraising coupons are being distributed throughout the area, it reported. The Four Diamonds Fund, which supports the fight against pediatric cancer, is the designated beneficiary of Penn State’s annual Interfraternity Council/Panhellenic Dance Marathon.
Jersey Mike’s, for its part, ranks among the larger sandwich-shop chains in the country, counting more than 600 stores that are open or in the works. The State College shop will be open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sundays, 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. Mondays and Tuesdays, and 10 a.m. to 3 a.m. Wednesdays through Saturdays.
