Sue Paterno will open up about the fallout from the Jerry Sandusky child sex abuse scandal in an exclusive interview with Katie Couric, according to the website hollywoodreporter.com.

The Couric camp has since confirmed the interview via a release.

Couric recently met with Paterno at her home on McKee Street. Paterno is also scheduled to appear in Couric’s New York studio on Feb. 11, when the interview is scheduled to air.

It will be the first extensive interview with Paterno since the Sandusky scandal ended the career of her husband, former football coach Joe Paterno, and tarnished his sterling image.

Joe Paterno passed away Jan. 22, 2012 at age 85 because of complications from lung cancer treatments, six months before a Penn State-commissioned report into the scandal stated he, along with three former university officials, concealed allegations of child sex abuse against Sandusky out of fear of bad publicity. The scathing investigation, headed by former FBI director Louis Freeh, has come under scrutiny, and the Paterno family has vehemently denied Joe Paterno’s role in a cover-up.

The interview could signal the Paterno family’s readiness to come forward publicly with its defense of the coach. The family recently announced its own rebuttal and analysis of the Freeh report will be released soon.
