After months of renovations, the new Kildare’s Irish Pub in downtown State College will open for business at 9 p.m. Thursday, a spokeswoman confirmed Monday.
The pub, at 538 E. College Ave., takes the place of a Hooters restaurant that had done business at the address for about 10 years. Hooters closed abruptly in late May.
Work to transform the building into a Kildare’s began shortly thereafter.
Based in West Chester, the Kildare’s group has eight Irish-themed pubs, including the one in State College and three in the Philadelphia area. It’s continuing to expand into college communities in several states, CEO Dave Magrogan has said.
A performance by the State College ’80s cover band Velveeta will help the Kildare’s on East College Avenue open on Thursday. The band is scheduled to play starting at 10 p.m.
