State College residents can look forward to a warm and relatively sunny Labor Day weekend coming up — that is at least until the actual Labor Day roles around.

Tom Kines, a meteorologist with Accuweather, said from what meteorologists have been seeing the past couple of days, this weekend will mostly be warm and humid.

“Temperatures will get up into the 80’s,” Kines said. “But you can’t rule out a late afternoon or evening thunderstorm on Saturday or even Sunday.”

On Labor Day, however, you will have a more likely chance of getting wet.

“By the time Monday roles around a cold front will be getting close to area and out of it more numerous showers and thunderstorms will appear,” Kines said.

Kines said Monday will still be warm, but after that the temperatures will drop. Tuesday and Wednesday will only see a high of about 70 degrees. Kines also said it is too early to tell if this weekend will be the last warm weekend before autumn hits.
