Drivers will encounter several new and ongoing lane and full road closures in downtown State College this week.
Here’s a look at what to expect:
• South Burrowes Street between West College Avenue and West Beaver Avenue is closed now through 7 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 6, while contractor Leonard S. Fiore replaces bus stops and pavement. The work is related to construction of Penn State’s James Building replacement, which is expected to be completed this fall.
• Now through Friday, Aug. 16, Stone Valley Construction is installing new curbs and crosswalks on East College Avenue between Shortlidge Road and South Pugh Street. Work takes place from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., causing the parking lane and travel lane to be closed.
• From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, the sidewalk and one travel lane will be closed on West College Avenue between South Burrowes and South Atherton streets as Landmark Construction performs pavement and resurfacing work. The work is related to construction of The Standard apartment building, which is expected to be completed in August.
• From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Thursday and Friday, the sidewalk and one travel lane will be closed on South Atherton Street between Calder Way and West College Avenue for Landmark Construction to perform pavement resurfacing.
• East Calder Way between South Fraser and South Pugh streets is closed 6-11 p.m. every Thursday through Saturday for Downtown State College’s Calder WalkWay, a part-time pedestrian mall with art and a lighting attraction.
• Cresson Alley between Calder Way and West Beaver Avenue will be closed to vehicles and pedestrians from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday while Landmark Construction performs curb demolition.
