I am writing to request support in this November’s election for Jeremy Breon, a candidate for Centre County prothonotary.

The office of the prothonotary is crucial to the successful operation of our court system — it is the chief clerk and record-keeper for all court filings; the filer and recorder of all judgments, orders, and decrees; and, perhaps most importantly, it is the office where the public interacts with the court system.

As an attorney, I witness first-hand the everyday interactions that all of us have with the prothonotary’s office, whether we are seasoned paralegals and attorneys or individuals with pressing family, criminal, or other matters.

Jeremy has the requisite experience to not only serve as the prothonotary, but to do so with the requisite experience and professionalism. Jeremy has already worked in the prothonotary’s office for eight years. During that time, he has learned how the office functions, how to fill the big shoes of the outgoing prothonotary, and how to properly and successfully interact with members of the public.

His opponent, on the other hand, has no experience in either the prothonotary’s office or the court system. His opponent is a recently graduated law student who believes he can use his legal education alone to fulfill the duties required of this position. Even as a practicing attorney who interacts with the prothonotary’s office on an ongoing basis, it would be presumptuous of me to believe that I could successfully operate that office without any prior training.

With all due respect, Jeremy is the better choice.
