Listen Live to Board of Trustees’ Special Meeting Regarding NCAA Consent Decree

Penn State’s Board of Trustees will not be making any motions or taking a vote regarding the NCAA’s sanctions at its meeting via teleconference Sunday.

The Penn State Board of Trustees will consider ratifying the NCAA’s consent decree at a special meeting via conference call at 5 p.m. Sunday.

Penn State spokesman Dave La Torre issued a statement Thursday.

‘Since the NCAA Consent Decree was imposed on the university two weeks ago, there has been a considerable amount of confusion and misinformation about how the university came to its decision to accept the consent decree and why we believe that was the best course of action for the University.

‘The Board will hold a special meeting via conference call this Sunday, August 12, at 5 p.m. EST. The sole purpose of the special meeting is to consider ratification of the binding consent decree imposed by the NCAA and accepted by the University.

‘A live audio stream of the meeting will be available at WPSU.org/live. If you are unable to view the stream live, an audio file of the call and meeting minutes will be available on our website psu.edu/trustees as soon as possible.

‘This meeting will ensure there is no misunderstanding or further confusion as to where the Board stands on this matter.’

Penn State President Rodney Erickson signed the binding consent decree on July 23. Since then, three separate appeals have been filed, by the Paterno family, trustee Ryan McCombie and a group of former members of the football team.
