Chase Hall has been under construction since May of 2012. Renovation work on Haller and Lyons Halls should wrap up before students arrive for the fall semester.
Taken together, this is the biggest housing project on campus since Eastview Terrace went up in 2004. All three of the South Halls dormitories feature some snazzy upgrades including wireless internet, air conditioning, private bathrooms and modular furniture.
You’ve probably noticed Chace Hall which faces Shortlidge Road just north of East College Avenue. The 45,000 square feet building will house 213 students in 108 regular rooms.
Penn State says Chace is the first residence hall equipped with a Learning Station; four students with individual laptops can collaborate on a project through a shared monitor.
Students will have access to private bathrooms on each floor with a toilet, sink and shower in each. A kitchen is also available on the first floor.
Renovations to Haller and Lyons halls include the same upgrades that have been built into Chase Hall. Sororities will have their own suites equipped with a living room and kitchen. They will also have shared meeting space.
