State College eatery Mamma Mia’s Italian Restaurant and Pizzeria will close its doors at the end of the month.

The restaurant’s owners are selling the establishment, and its last day of operation will be Friday, April 26, according to a news release.

“We would like to thank the State College and Penn State community for being our friends and family for the past ten years,” the release stated.

Mamma Mia’s opened its 128 East College Avenue location in 2009. The restaurant was originally founded in Calabria, Italy in 1917 according to its website.

Popular dishes from chef Massimo Napoli such as the chicken parmesan sub and penne alla vodka have turned it into a popular takeout and GrubHub destination.

Mamma Mia’s will open a new location in the owners’ home state of Florida following the closure of the State College restaurant, according to the release.
