Maryland-based sports bar chain The Greene Turtle is expected to find a home in State College by the end of 2016.
Although the location and timeline are not yet finalized, central Pennsylvania business magnates Leho Poldmae and Dave Trimbur signed a multi-unit restaurant development agreement.
Regarding the specifics, Trimbur told the Centre Daily Times, “we’ve worked with a number of people and looked at sites. I’d love to get one up by the end of 2016, but again the real estate search will dictate how quickly it happens.”
The menu features typical American bar food with national, regional, and local beer selections. Cocktail-lovers have a wide variety of margaritas, mojitos, and original Greene Turtle creations to choose from.
Trimbur also told the Centre Daily Times that while it’s a sports bar in a college town, the bar will be family oriented.
“State College also has a great local youth sports market, and I’m a big believer in community outreach and supporting the community that supports us,” he said. The Greene Turtle website describes the restaurant as “a community hangout for all ages, that serves great food and drinks in a fun, casual atmosphere built on the excitement and unity of sports.”
Greene Turtles typically hold about 215 people at a time, and Trimbur said he hopes to employ as many as 130 people. We’ll keep you posted as more details develop.
