The longtime executive director of the Centre County Airport Authority is stepping down after nearly three decades of work at State College Regional Airport.
James “Jim” Meyer, who has overseen operations of the airport’s commercial airline terminal since 1997, will retire on June 30, authority Chairman Chris Groshel said in a news release.
“For almost 30 years Jim has devoted his professional life, and much of his personal life, to ensuring that folks traveling through our airport have the best possible experience,” Groshel said. “His focus on customer service is notable, and he will be missed.”
During his tenure as executive director of the authority, which operates the commercial terminal and parking, Meyer has overseen numerous improvements, including a major
remodeling of the terminal area, construction of a new parking lot and maintenance building and improvements to the baggage handling.
Ralph Stewart, who recently retired as Bellefonte Borough manager after 24 years, has been named interim executive director.
“I will have much to learn in this new position, but I am excited about the challenge,” Stewart said.
