Missing Boy Returns Home

A Miles Township 13-year-old who was reported missing on Wednesday morning has returned home and his safe, according to Pennsylvania State Police.

Matthew King was found and returned home on Wednesday night. No other details were immediately available.

State police and Miles Township Fire Company began searching for King after his father reported that he had last been seen leaving their residence on Madisonburg Pike at 6:30 a.m. en route to a barn about 200 feet away from the house.

The barn and surrounding area were checked, but he was not found. State police were using a helicopter to search the area and a bloodhound team was used on the ground.

Miles Township Fire Company reported in a Facebook post at about 11 p.m. that King was found and unharmed.

‘Update on the lost amish boy in Miles Township, he has been found and home safe and sound,’ the post said. ‘I would like to take the time to thank everyone that took the time to help with the search today. There is along list of people to thank, from all of our mutual aid companies to [state police] with man power and the helo to the crest team to the blood hound team and to all the support from our community members that provided refreshments to all the members. Thank you this makes you realize that we still live in a great community!! Again thank you for all of your help and support.’
