A State College man who was reported missing earlier this week has been found dead, according to borough police.
Stephen Shimmel was found deceased on Thursday, and police wrote in a media release on Friday morning that there is no evidence of foul play in his death.
The 46-year-old had last been seen on Sunday evening in State College and police issued a missing person advisory on Wednesday.
In asking for the public’s help locating Shimmel, police said they were attempting to check on his welfare. He had last been seen carrying a portable oxygen tank.
Police did not indicate in the release where Shimmel was found. The department and the Centre County Coroner’s Office did not immediately respond to messages seeking comment.
