Another round of snow has arrived in Centre County.
The National Weather Service at State College has issued a winter weather advisory for most of central Pennsylvania, including all of Centre County, from 1 a.m. Thursday through 10 a.m. Friday.
Total snow accumulations of 4 to 6 inches are expected. Hazardous travel conditions could impact the morning and evening commutes, according to the advisory.
AccuWeather is forecasting 4 to 8 inches of snow for the State College area, with the heaviest snow coming between 9 a.m. and noon on Thursday then 9 p.m. Thursday to 1 a.m. Friday.
Here’s a look at some of the closings and other impacts announced so far:
• College Township has declared a snow emergency effective 10 a.m. Thursday. Vehicles cannot be parked on or within 5 feet of public roads until 48 hours after snowfall has ended. Vehicles that remain on the street may be towed
• Harris Township has declared a snow emergency effective 9 a.m. Thursday. Vehicles that remain parked on township streets after 1 p.m. will be ticketed. Parking on public streets is prohibited until 24 hours after the snow has ended.
• State College Area and Penns Valley Area school district schools is closed on Thursday and students have remote learning days.
• Bellefonte Area and Bald Eagle Area school district schools are closed on Thursday and students will have flexible instruction days.
• Philipsburg Osceola Area School District schools are closed and students will have a virtual learning day.
• Saint Joseph’s Catholic Academy has a virtual day of instruction on Thursday.
• Penn State has canceled on-campus work, in-person classes and other in-person activities at the University Park campus through 5 a.m. Friday. Details on remote and hybrid course options during cancelation periods are available here.
• A free milk and food distribution scheduled for Thursday afternoon at Calvary Church, 150 Harvest Fields Drive in Boalsburg, has been rescheduled for 2 p.m. on Sunday. The drive-through only distribution will provide 1,276 food boxes with one gallon of milk and an assortment of dairy, produce, and meat. One box per vehicle while supplies last. American Dairy Association North East and community partners are organizing the event using Coronavirus Food Assistance Program grants.
• PennDOT has lifted vehicle and speed limit restrictions that had been in place on Interstate 99, Interstate 80 and U.S. Route 322.
