Students were kept inside as a precaution on Friday while police investigated a report of loud noises near Park Forest Elementary School and Park Forest Middle School.
Ferguson Township and Patton Township police were called after the Park Forest Elementary principal heard noises that sounded like gun shots coming from off school grounds. Students were kept inside as a precaution while police searched the surrounding area, though the schools were not officially in lock-down, State College Area School District spokesman Chris Rosenblum said.
Police gave an all-clear after searching the area and said ‘they believed the sound carried from hunters in game lands beyond Circleville Park,’ according to a message from SCASD Superintendent Bob O’Donnell.
‘At no point were any students in danger,’ Rosenblum said.
