November is a busy month with Thanksgiving, parent-teacher conferences, deer season, and the start of the holidays.  What better way to take a break than to meet up with other book lovers and/or writers?

On November 14, Schlow Library will host a discussion on Tawni O<92>Dell<92>s book, Back Roads, between 2:30 and 4:30 p.m. in the meeting room.

Also on November 14, the Nittany Valley Writers Network meeting will be a Poet<92>s Night, featuring Gary Fincke and Patricia Jabbeh Wesley.  The meeting will be held at Schlow Library at 7 p.m.  The following morning is the NVWN<92>s monthly breakfast at the West College Ave. Waffle Shop at 7 a.m.

On November 21, the Eclectic Book Group at Barnes and Noble will discuss The Memory Keeper<92>s Daughter at 2 p.m.

On Sunday, November 26, if you aren<92>t preparing for the first day of hunting season, Barnes and Noble is hosting two events.  At 10:30 a.m., local children<92>s writer Martha Freeman will be reading from her new book, Mrs. Wow Never Wanted a Cow, and signing autographs.  Later that day, at 7 p.m., the Writer<92>s Workshop will host a special guest, Martha Kolln, a retired associate professor of English, who will give tips on how to make your words flow smoothly.  (On a personal note, I had Professor Kolln during my own college days. She is a delightful and engaging teacher and turned out to be a driving force in my career.  If my schedule permits it, I plan to attend.)
