With thousands of students soon to return to the State College area for the start of Penn State’s fall semester, some parking changes will be in effect in the borough starting Friday, Aug. 11.

The No Parking: 2 a.m. to 6 a.m and one-hour and two-hour on-street parking restrictions will not be enforced beginning at 2 a.m. on Friday. Enforcement will resume at 2 a.m.on Aug. 22.

Parking meters and lots will continue to be enforced from 10 a.m. through 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday and no lawn parking will be permitted.

Drivers are reminded that the Pennsylvania Vehicle Code will be strictly enforced. That includes no parking on sidewalks, crosswalks, intersections or in front of driveways, within 20 feet of a crosswalk at an intersection, within 30 feet of a stop sign, more than 12 inches from the curb, or against traffic.

Penn State classes begin on Aug. 21, though move-in for many off-campus living areas will begin as early as this weekend.
