An ABC News reporter, a Walgreens executive and a director of an international AIDS organization are among the speakers scheduled for the Penn State Forum Speaker Series this fall.
The university on Thursday announced the latest lineup for the University Park lunchtime series, which will kick off Sept. 3. It’s modeled after the National Press Club Speaker Series, complete with question-and-answer sessions with audience members.
Each speaker appears as part of an on-campus luncheon event from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Anyone can attend for an $18 fee.
Here’s a rundown of the fall-season speakers and their announced topics:
- Stephen Lewis, co-director of the international organization known as AIDS-Free World; ‘A Decidedly Sour View of the Progress of the Millennium Development Goals’; Sept. 3, Penn Stater Conference Center Hotel.
- Michael Oriard, distinguished professor of American literature and culture at Oregon State; ‘The Big Game, or Mardi Gras Every Saturday in the Fall’; Sept. 24, HUB-Robeson Center.
- Brian Ross, chief investigative correspondent, ABC News; ‘Scams, Scandals and Scoundrels’; Oct. 8, Penn Stater Conference Center Hotel.
- Anthony D. Cortese, president, Second Nature; ‘The Critical Role of Higher Education in Creating a Healthy, Just, Secure and Sustainable Society; Oct. 21, HUB-Robeson Center.
