Tim Frazier’s dreams of playing professional basketball in the NBA are coming closer and closer to becoming a reality as the former Nittany Lion will play for the Philadelphia 76rs’ summer league team.
“Looks like I will spending my summer in Philly with 76ers!” Fraizer tweeted. “Summer league time!”
Frazier worked out for several NBA teams during the weeks leading up to the draft but only the Sixers called Frazier back for a second look. The rebuilding Philadelphia franchise accumulated seven new players during this weekend’s draft. The Sixers are scheduled to take part in summer league action in both Las Vegas and Orlando in the coming weeks.
Frazier’s full complement of teammates has yet to be announced but St. John’s forward JaKarr Sampson, Pittsburgh center Talib Zanna, and Cincinnati guard Sean Kilpatrick are some of the players reportedly set to join Frazier on the roster.
The 6-foot-1, 170-pound guard averaged 14.9 points, 5.4 assists and 4.4 rebounds in his senior season.
–Durant Skills Camp–
Current Penn State guard DJ Newbill also had a busy weekend as he took part in a three-day event in Washington DC at the Kevin Durant Skills Camp. An invitation-only academy, Newbill was one of 15 college guards to work with Durant and his camp staff.
A good showing by Newbill could lead to an invitation to the LeBron James Skills Camp that begins on July 9. Invitations have not been sent out, but Newbill should know his fate in the coming days.
