Penn State basketball got some good news on Thursday as freshman Julian Moore received a medical hardship waiver for the 2013-14 season and will have four seasons of eligibility remaining.
Moore played in seven games for the Nittany Lions last season, producing eight total points. He had a career-high four in the win over Longwood Nov. 19, 2013, and added a personal-best six boards vs. the Lancers. Moore would break his nose in mid December of 2013 and would not see the court again due to the injury.
In the offseason, the 6-foot-10 Moore has added nearly 20 pounds of muscle to his frame and has worked tirelessly in the gym and weight room this the summer.
While Moore’s stats may not be especially noteworthy, Moore has received high praise from the coaching staff over the past year and in many respects should simply be considered as a new incoming freshman this season. With his combination of height and athleticism, Moore remains an interesting project to watch in the coming months and years.
Additionally Penn State basketball has released updated weights for players on the entire roster. The changes in the players’ weights are compared to last season:
John Johnson: +10 pounds to 6-1,185
DJ Newbill: +5 pounds to 6-4, 210
Brandon Taylor: -10 pounds to 6-6, 225
Jordan Dickerson: +5 pounds to 7-1, 245
Ross Travis: +10 pounds to 6-7, 235
Julian Moore: +20 pounds to 6-10, 235
