Penn State small forward recruit Akosa Maduegbunam confirmed tonight that he will sign his letter of intent tomorrow afternoon at 2 p.m at Charlestown High School, becoming the second 2012 recruit to sign with the Nittany Lions under Pat Chambers.

Maduegbunam who currently plays for Winchendon High School was originally targeted by Pat Chambers while at Boston University and took the opportunity to join Chambers’ at Penn State, verbally committing June 29th, 2011.

Maduegbunam was the first verbal commit of the Pat Chambers era but did not sign with the Nittany Lions during the early signing period whereas fellow 2012 recruit, 6-foot-8, 235 pound power forward Brandon Taylor from Trenton Catholic Academy signed on November 9th.

Southern Miss sophomore transfer D.J Newbill then joined the Nittany Lion’s roster in August of 2011 but was required to sit out the 2011-12 season due to NCAA transfer rules. Newbill will join Freshman Maduegbunam and Taylor as one of three new players on the Nittany Lions’ active roster.

‘Tomorrow is going to be another significant and defining moments in my life,’ Maduegbunam said. ‘Tomorrow I’m signing a business deal with not only the Penn State Men’s basketball program, but the University itself. I want to be remembered as Coach Chambers’ first recruit in his new era. He is a great role model to me and will help turn a boy into a man.’

Penn State is still looking to fill the void that the transfers of Trey Lewis, Peter Alexis, and Matt Glover left behind.

Sheldon Jeter, a talented small forward out of Beaver Falls High School, in Beaver Falls PA., is currently a favorite to possibly fill one of those holes. However the prized 2012 recruit is not expected to make a decision until later in the signing period which ends May 16th.
