Penn State Basketball: Nittany Lion Announce Non Conference Schedule

Penn State basketball finally has the finishing touches on the non conference schedule, the program announced the full slate of games late on Wednesday night.

“We are looking forward to taking on a challenging set of opponents during non-conference play,” Penn State coach Pat Chambers said in a release. “We built this schedule with the goal of testing our players early and preparing us for Big Ten play. We are excited to return to Madison Square Garden and the NYC area, as well as getting back to D.C. for the second year in a row.” 

Penn State will host an exhibition game for the first time since 2013, taking on Lock Haven before officially opening the season on Friday, Nov. 11. The season opening opponent is still to be determined but the game is affiliated with the on-campus portion of the Hall of Fame Tip-Off Classic. That event will include a highly antiquated and previously announced game against Duke on Nov. 19 and a contest against either Cincinnati or Rhode Island on Nov.20 at the Mohegan Sun arena in Uncasville, Conn.

Tip is scheduled against Duke for 12:30 and will be carried on WatchESPN.

Penn State will also participate in two single-game, neutral-site events: the Never Forget Tribute Classic vs. Pittsburgh (Dec. 10), the second game in a doubleheader with Villanova and Notre Dame in the Prudential Center; and the Hoops Holiday Festival against St. John’s (Dec. 18) at Madison Square Garden that game will be a part of a doubleheader with Rutgers and Fordham.
