Penn State basketball’s already difficult non conference schedule isn’t getting any easier as George Washington announced on Wednesday that the Colonials will host the Nittany Lions again this season as the home-and-home series continues.
The game will take place just after Thanksgiving on Saturday, Nov. 26. George Washington will return to State College to face the Nittany Lions in 2017-18 to close out the current series arrangement. Last season, the Colonials took a 76-66 victory over Penn State at home. The Nittany Lions beat George Washington 64-51 to improve to 10-1 early in the 2014-15 campaign.
GW joins an already impressive list of non conference opponents for Penn State as the Nittany Lions look to break in a new team and highly touted freshman class in what appears to be a trial by fire. On Tuesday it was announced Penn State will host Georgia Tech in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge.
In addition, the Nittany Lions will take on Duke Saturday, Nov. 19 in the 2016 Tip-Off Tournament, hosted by the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame at Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, Connecticut. Penn State will face Pittsburgh in the inaugural Never Forget Tribute Classic on Saturday, Dec. 10 at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.
Penn State will also host home contests against Marist (Nov. 11) and Grand Canyon (Nov. 15) in the Bryce Jordan Center as part of the Tip-Off Tournament on-campus series of games, as well as a matchup vs. either Cincinnati or Rhode Island on the second day at Mohegan Sun.
