The Penn State men’s basketball team will take on Georgia Tech in the annual Big Ten/ACC Challenge, ESPN announced Tuesday. The Nittany Lions will host the Yellow Jackets Tuesday, Nov. 29 in the Bryce Jordan Center. Times and TV designations will be released later this summer.
Penn State and Georgia Tech have met twice in the Challenge, splitting the two meetings played in Atlanta. The Lions lead the all-time series 2-1, also capturing a win on the road in the 1998 NIT quarterfinals. Penn State has won six of its last nine Big Ten/ACC Challenge games and holds a 7-8 record in 15 Challenge appearances.
This is the third ACC team on Penn State’s non-conference schedule. The Nittany Lions will take on Duke Saturday, Nov. 19 in the 2016 Tip-Off Tournament, hosted by the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame at Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, Connecticut. They also will face Pittsburgh in the inaugural Never Forget Tribute Classic on Saturday, Dec. 10 at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.
In addition to the trio of contests vs. ACC squads, Penn State’s confirmed non-conference games include home contests against Marist (Nov. 11) and Grand Canyon (Nov. 15) in the Bryce Jordan Center as part of the Tip-Off Tournament on-campus series of games, as well as a matchup vs. either Cincinnati or Rhode Island on the second day at Mohegan Sun.
