With back-to-back wins under its belt, Penn State’s men’s basketball team will look to make it three straight on Sunday afternoon against Longwood at the Bryce Jordan Center.
For the Nittany Lions, a win would improve their record to 4-1 on the year and start off a stretch of 5 games in 10 days on a positive note. The Lancers will not only mark the first team the Nittany Lions will face over the 10 day span but the first of four games that are part of the Barclays Center Classic, which concludes next Saturday in Brooklyn.
Penn State will play Longwood on Sunday before facing Monmouth this coming Tuesday. The Nittany Lions will then travel to Brooklyn to face St. John’s on Friday and then either Georgia Tech or Ole Miss on Saturday. Penn State has traditionally struggled in early season tournaments, but head coach Patrick Chambers is more worried about getting his team ready for Big Ten play, and if that means tough losses he just needs his team to learn from them.
So far this season, there has been more good than bad for the Nittany Lions. An impressive win over La Salle in which all five Penn State starters were in double figures highlighted the Nittany Lions’ increasing depth this season. Those kinds of wins are the ones Chambers hopes his team can build on.
“To beat a team like La Salle should help these guys,” Chambers said following the game.
Penn State and Longwood will tip at 1PM.
