Residence halls at Penn State University Park will open at 5 p.m. Friday for students returning from the university’s week-long Thanksgiving Holiday, Penn State announced late Monday.

The university had earlier planned to reopen the dorms at 8 a.m. Saturday.

But ‘in order to help accommodate those residence-hall students who cannot return on Saturday morning before the’ Penn State-Michigan State football game, the dorms will now open at the earlier time, according to the written announcement.

The game will kick off at 12 p.m. Saturday at Beaver Stadium.

Penn State reported that the commons desks in Findlay, Pollock and Redifer will open at 5 p.m. Friday, as well. ‘While the Redifer desk will close at midnight, the commons desks at Findlay and Pollock will remain open throughout the night to accommodate students who may have lost their room key or Penn State ID+ card,’ according to the announcement. ‘Students residing in North and West halls will need to contact the desk staff at Findlay or Pollock for assistance.’

The university will open the Penn State ID+ Card Office from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and from 8 a.m. until noon on Saturday. There will be no food service available on campus Friday, and only limited food service will be available on Saturday, according to the announcement.

A listing of food-service units that will be available Saturday is posted at www.foodservices.psu.edu.
