Penn State Football: Allen Robinson Signs Rookie Deal With Jaguars

Former Nittany Lion Allen Robinson made his NFL career and future a little more secure after singing a multi-year deal with the Jacksonville Jaguars the team announced on Tuesday.

While the team did not disclose specifics of the deal, the Associated Press has reported that Robinson singed a four-year rookie contract worth $3.5 million over that span.

Robinson was drafted by Jacksonville in the second round of the NFL draft in the No. 61 spot overall.

“It was real exciting,” Robinson said immediately after signing in a release “It took a little bit of time, but we finally have that done and out of the way. It’s just a breath of fresh air to get that out of the way.”

Robinson joins first-round pick (No. 3 overall) quarterback Blake Bortles and second-rounder Marqise Lee (No. 39) as part of a new youth movement within the organization. While Lee may have had a flashier collegiate career in the lights of LA while at USC, Robinson looks to be an important part of the Jacksonville rebuilding process.

Lee is currently the only member of the Jaguars’ draft class who remains unsigned.

“That’s been a lot of fun getting around these guys, just learning from each other and trying to move forward,” Robinson said. “As a group, we have a lot of young guys on the team and I think that’s what makes our culture a good one.”

While at Penn State, Robinson set marks that place him among the school’s all-time leaders in catches (2nd, 177), yardage (3rd, 2,474 yards) and touchdown receptions (5th, 17).

Additionally, Robinson set the two highest single-season reception totals in school history and two of the top four receiving totals. Had he stayed for a final season it was highly likely that Robinson would have broken both the receptions and yardage records at Penn State.
