As Penn State sits just over a week away from its season opening game against Idaho, the question for many fans without season tickets is the same. How much does it cost to get in?
And of course that depends on where you want to sit, and how many of your friends you want to sit with, but getting into Beaver Stadium as a single ticket won’t cost you all that much if you’re flexible.
That might very well be the theme in the immediate post-Barkley, post-McSorley era. A quick run through Ticketmaster’s seating chart shows fairly substantial swaths of unclaimed tickets not including resale. The photo above is just one portion of the stadium for next weekend’s opener, blue dots marking unsold seats, red dots are resale tickets.
This isn’t entirely out of the ordinary. Some fans like to wait and see how the season goes before picking up tickets, but in the case of the Pitt and Michigan games, those both are essentially already sold out aside from available resale tickets. But compared to an announced 105,232 for the season opener against Appalachian State in 2018, it would appear that Beaver Stadium will come up a bit short against Idaho.
End of the day, if Penn State is playing well, fans will show, but if the market is saying anything just a week ahead of the Nittany Lions’ opener, it’s that buyers are waiting to see how this newest chapter of Penn State football begins before opening their wallets.
