Penn State added its seventh commit since the middle of May and second straight defensive tackle when Christian Colon verbally committed to the Nittany Lions on Thursday.
The commitment marks another victory on the recruiting trail. The Charlotte, North Carolina native was seen by many as a favorite to end up at UNC. Instead, Colon kept Penn State’s recruiting momentum going.
At 6-foot-3, 309 pounds, Colon joins fellow defensive linemen Michael Dwumfour — who announced his commitment to Penn State on Tuesday — and highly touted end Shane Simmons in Happy Valley.
The 247 Network ranks Penn State’s 2016 recruiting class as the ninth best in the nation. With 13 recruits already verbally committed, James Franklin and his staff will continue to work tirelessly not only to land new recruits but to ensure that all of the current commits don’t have a change of heart.
With National Signing Day just over seven months away, the road is still a very long one before all of Franklin’s hard work can finally pay off.
