You can’t say he didn’t have a good experience last time he was there.

Only a few months removed from the New Era Pinstripe Bowl, James Franklin will be making his return to Yankee Stadium to throw out the first pitch next Tuesday.

The Yankees will face the Tampa Bay Rays and Franklin will be front and center for what might be a less memorable evening than the one Penn State fans saw last December when Penn State defeated Boston College.

“I’m not a guy that kind of lives like that; there’s no fear of making a mistake,” Franklin told reporters in York on Wednesday evening. “If I make a mistake and it’s an ugly pitch and it’s funny, everybody will laugh at me, I’ll laugh at myself, and we’ll move on.

“But, I will practice, because I’m a competitive guy, and I want to throw a strike. I don’t think there’s too many people that would turn down an opportunity to throw out a first pitch at Yankee Stadium.”

No word yet on what kind of pitch Franklin will throw, but judging by his background at the quarterback position the Penn State second year head coach might just opt for fastball down the middle.

Either way, Franklin will be back in New York City once again in a few weeks as the Coaches’ Caravan kicks off in early May. Penn State won’t be making an additional visit to the historic ballpark, but between a dramatic overtime victory, a first pitch and a few speaking engagements, Franklin certainly isn’t turning down the publicity in one of the world’s largest cities.
