Penn State Football: Freshman Weights, Heights And Numbers Heading Into Spring Practice

A new era will unofficially begin Wednesday as Penn State takes the field for the first spring practice of the season and the start of the 2019-20 campaign

As is the case with every year, new Nittany Lions will take on new roles and old faces will no longer be breaking the huddle as Penn State forges onwards into the future.

For a handful of players, Wednesday will mark their first practice with their new team. With the release of the spring media guide in the lead-up to James Franklin’s press conference prior to practice, it’s a chance to finally see how 13 new Nittany Lions weigh-in on the scales, and what numbers they will be wearing come this fall.

The headliners, linebacker Brandon Smith and running back Noah Cain will wear numbers 12 and 21 respectively while each weighs in at over 200 pounds.

State College native Keaton Ellis hits the scales at 180 pounds while linebacker Robbie Dwyer is the heaviest of the new spring ball participants at 235 pounds.

Freshman quarterback Ta’Quan Roberson will wear No.9, leaving little in the way of a nostalgic transition between Trace McSorley and the next chapter in the quarterback room.

Penn State will welcome the rest of its incoming freshman class this summer prior to camp.
