Put in the work, stay consistent and a scholarship might just find its way to you.

And for Penn State senior wideout Gregg Garrity, it has just that. According to multiple tweets, the walk-on receiver was awarded with a scholarship this morning during winter workouts. Garrity walked-on with the program under former head coach Bill O’Brien but saw limited action.

While Garrity’s time hasn’t exactly increased, he has frequently been called on for punt return duties under James Franklin while the special teams unit struggled with muffed punts. Garrity provided the unit with consistency and security late in the 2015 season. Garrity is the son of former Nittany Lions, also of the same name.

Penn State also awarded long snapper Tyler Yazujian a scholarship in March which means the Nittany Lions will enter the 2016 season with a scholarship player at kicker, punter, long snapper and returner for the first time in a long time.
