Penn State football’s dry spell on the recruiting trail finally ended on Wednesday as North Carolina linebacker prospect Brelin Faison-Walden made his decision public at his announcement ceremony.
Falcon-Walden is a the three-star prospect according to the 247 Network’s composite rankings. He becomes the ninth member of the Nittany Lions’ Class of 2017.
Weighing in 6-foot-1, 200-pound Faison-Walden recorded 137 tackles as a sophomore in 2014 and had received offers from a handful of school including Alabama, Clemson, Georgia, Maryland and Kentucky among others.
Falcon-Walden is the fifth defensive commitment in the 2017 class and the first since cornerback DJ Brown’s verbal pledge on April 25th. He is also the first commitment since this past weekend’s ‘Lasch Bash’ a barbecue style event at Penn State’s football facilities held for recruiting targets and already committed players.
