Penn State Football: Nittany Lions Add Commitment from 4-Star Florida Safety
Penn State football’s class of 2023 recruiting continued its run in the south on Thursday afternoon with a verbal commitment from four-star safety King Mack out of St Thomas Aquinas in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
He is the third safety to verbally commit to the class so far.
The 5-foot-11, 180-poundMack is rated the No. 264th best prospect in the 2023 class according to the 247 Network’s composite rankings, which accounts for multiple recruiting services, but the No.122 best in the nation by the site’s own rankings system. The network also lists Mack as the No. 25 overall prospect out of Florida for the 2023 cycle.
Despite his Sunshine State roots, Mack choose Penn State over Michigan State, and also considered Boston College and Arkansas among others. He was recruited by Penn State assistants Ja’Juan Seider and Anthony Poindexter.
Penn State’s 2023 class is now 16 players deep with Mack making for the fifth player out of either Alabama or Florida this year for the Nittany Lions. In terms of Florida-based prospects, Mack joins safety counterpart and Aquinas teammate Conrad Hussey, as well as quarterback commit Marcus Stokes.
Defensive line prospect Tomarrion Parker and safety Da’Kaari Nelson both hail from Alabama to round out Penn State’s southern flair so far this recruiting cycle.
The Nittany Lions’ recruiting class is currently ranked No. 5 in the nation, according to 247.
