Contrary to popular belief the Trace McSorley era will not last forever. And a mid season commitment was a reminder of that as the Nittany Lions added a quarterback to the class of 2019.

Ta’Quan Roberson, the three-star quarterback from Wayne, N.J., DePaul Catholic verbally committed on Thursday, tweeting out his choice. He joins State College native and three-star corner Keaton Ellis as the only other member of the 2019 haul.

According to recruiting services, Roberson selected Penn State over a handful of other schools including Kentucky, North Carolina, Rutgers and Virginia Tech. Roberson was reportedly on campus this past weekend to watch Penn State beat Michigan 42-13.

As one might expect, Robertson was impressed. Days later he made his choice.

Barring the decision to go pro following the season, Penn State would have McSorley for one more season, after that the Nittany Lions would likely turn to Tommy Stevens or Sean Clifford.
