Penn State made it 17 verbal commitments in the class of 2014 as Brooklyn native and five-star defensive tackle Thomas Holley will be taking his talents to State College according to multiple recruiting outlets.

Rated a four-star recruit by Rivals.com and a five-star recruit by 247Sports, Holley’s commitment would make the fifth, four-star prospect in the 2014 class to give the Nittany Lions his word. Rivals also rated Holley the third best defensive tackle in the 2014 class. Holley joins fellow four-star recruits quarterback Michael O’Connor, tight end Mike Gesicki, and wide receivers Chris Godwin and De’Andre Thompkins as part of the Nittany Lions’ 2014 haul.

Either way, several recruiting experts who talked to StateCollege.com believe that Holley will end up a five-star prospect in all rating systems by the time he reaches State College.

Following a heated recruiting process, Holley choose Penn State over Florida. Prior to narrowing down his list to the Gators and Nittany Lions, the 6-foot-4, 300 pound prospect had received interest from schools like Ohio State, Alabama, Baylor, and Notre Dame among many other programs.

Penn State head coach Bill O’Brien and Florida head coach Will Muschamp visited Yankee Stadium last week to watch Holley play –and win– the PSAL state title.

Holley will participate in the Under Armour All-American game on January 2.
