Another big time recruit gave Bill O’Brien his word Wednesday night as Troy Vincent Jr verbally committed to Penn State according to Ryan Snyder of Blue White Illustrated.
Vincent Jr, the son of long time Philadelphia Eagle Troy Vincent Sr, is 5-foot-10, 181 pound prospect out of Baltimore Maryland. Vincent Jr is rated a four-star recruit by Rivals.com and is the twelfth verbal commitment of Penn State’s 2014 recruiting class.The Nittany Lions are limited to 15 scholarships per NCAA sanctions.
In the 2014 class, Vincent Jr marks the fifth defensive player in Penn State’s 2014 class and the second cornerback along with PA native Daquan Worley. Vincent Jr held offers from eight Big Ten schools and plenty of other high major programs including Notre Dame, California, Georgia Tech, and Pittsburgh. Maryland native Marcus Allen will join the two at safety.
Vincent Jr is the Nittany Lions’ first four-star defensive back recruit since 2009, when Darrell Givens and Derrick Thomas both verbally committed.
Penn State has landed six verbal commitments over the past two months.
