Penn State football has its schedule as the Big Ten announced its regular season slate on Saturday morning ahead of an Oct. 24 kickoff across the league.
The Nittany Lions aren’t short on intriguing meetings during an unprecedented season with Penn State opening the year at Indiana before heading back to Beaver Stadium to host the Buckeyes on Halloween, in perhaps the most unusual meeting between these two teams ever in the series’ history.
A home game against Maryland on Nov. 7 rounds out the first three weeks of the season before taking three of the next four games on the road at Nebraska, Michigan and Rutgers.
Penn State will close out the home slate with a game against Iowa o Nov. 21 and Michigan State on Dec. 12 in the home season finale.
The regular season will conclude with a matchup against a West division opponent, the location of that game to be determined. The West divisional team will — in theory — have finished in the same place in the division as Penn State finished in the East, although the Big Ten would like to avoid rematches of earlier cross-divisional games. In this case, Iowa being the more likely of the two West division opponents Penn State faces this year to finish comparable to the Nittany Lions.
