Penn State Football Recruiting: Quarterback Bossard Eager to Learn Under Bill O’Brien

As a Pennsylvania native, quarterback Brandon Bossard is familiar with Penn State’s football program and still came away impressed after his Junior Day visit last weekend.

“My visit was great,” he said. “I loved everything I saw. I liked what Coach [Bill] O’Brien had to say and given the opportunity I would love to learn football from Coach O’Brien.”

Bossard, 6-feet-2 and 190 pounds, was one of nine quarterbacks who visited the Penn State campus last weekend. He was one of four quarterbacks with Pennsylvania ties, including Ed Stockett from McKeesport, Damion Terry from Erie and Mike Keir from Roman Catholic in Philadelphia.

Bossard hasn’t received a scholarship offer yet from O’Brien — and may not. The Nittany Lions, Miami (Fla.) and Temple are among the Division I schools showing interest in Bossard.

But that number is expected to grow as long as Bossard, a pro-style quarterback from Methacton High School in Norristown, continues to make improvement.

“Recruiting is going well,” he said. “I’m just visiting schools and planning out when I can throw in front of the coaches. I can see myself picking early senior year.”

Other quarterbacks that attended Junior Day were Ryan Burns and Christian Hackenberg, both from Virginia, Connecticut’s Boeing Brown, Florida’s Tyler Cogswell and Ohio’s Mitch Trubisky.
