Penn State’s 2014 football schedule is finalized after Massachusetts announced Saturday it will be visiting Beaver Stadium on Sept. 20.

It will be the first meeting between Penn State and UMass, which is transitioning to the Football Bowl Subdivision level and will compete in the Mid-American Conference starting this year.

This is a one-game agreement, so Penn State coach Bill O’Brien, an Andover, Mass. native, will have to wait a little longer to coach a game in his home state. Andover is 90 minutes from the UMass campus, and O’Brien spent the last five years with the New England Patriots.

The announcement rounds out the 2014 schedule, which includes nonconference home games against Temple on Aug. 30 and Akron on Sept. 6 before a visit to Rutgers on Sept. 13.
