Penn State Football: Wade No Longer Seeking Transfer

Penn State safety Lamont Wade will return to the Lasch Building and no longer seek transfer, he announced on Twitter late Sunday night. Wade had entered the transfer portal, weighing his options to continue his career elsewhere.

“After long thoughts, prayers, and conversations, I’ve came to the decision that I will be removing my name from the transfer portal and … getting back to work with my brothers,” Wade said in a post. “I look forward to making an impact on the field for the 2019 Penn State Nittany Lions.”

Wade was among the first of nearly a dozen Penn State players to enter the transfer portal and is the first player to decide to return to the program after mulling over his options. Entering the transfer portal is a non-binding decision, although programs are -in theory- allowed to revoke scholarships from players considering departure at the end of that semester.

On the field Wade has yet to make a consistent impact for the Nittany Lions on defense but it stands to reason that the former five-star recruit turned regular special teams player will see his time increase substantially in 2019 following the graduation of senior safety Nick Scott.

Of the players to enter the portal, Juwan Johnson, Brandon Polk, Ayron Monroe, and Zech McPhearson are the only ones still looking for a new home and could ultimately opt to return as well.
