Penn State Football: Wide Receiver Emery Simmons Commits to Nittany Lions

Emery Simmons, a three-star receiver from Hope Mills, N.C., announced his commitment to Penn State on Saturday night, taking to Twitter to make his decision public. 

Simmons’ decision came following Saturday’s Lasch Bash, the Nittany Lions’ major summer recruiting effort. He had committed to his home-state UNC Tar Heels in June before flipping to Penn State.

According to 247 Sports, Simmons comes in at 6 feet and 185 pounds and ranks 22nd among all high school recruits in North Carolina for this cycle. You can check out his Hudl highlights here.

Simmons originally committed to Indiana back in March of this year, but he later flipped to North Carolina three days after receiving an offer from the Tar Heels. Before making his commitment to Penn State, the North Carolina native also held offers from West Virginia, Notre Dame, and Tennessee, among others. 

With this commitment, James Franklin now has 13 commits in his 2019 class, putting together another strong summer on the recruiting trail. Simmons is the second wide receiver in the group alongside Florida native John Dunmore.

Penn State’s class of 2019 ranks No. 15 in the nation, according to 247.
