Penn State Fraternity Suspended for 2 Years Following Misconduct Investigation

Penn State’s Office of Student Conduct has suspended the Phi Rho chapter of Delta Kappa Epsilon through the summer of 2022 following an investigation into ‘multiple allegations of serious misconduct.’

The board of directors for Delta Kappa Epsilon International Fraternity unanimously agreed to withdraw the Penn State chapter’s charter, with chapter potentially returning in the fall of 2022.

Delta Kappa Epsilon was placed on interim suspension in February after an unregistered social event ‘that potentially endangered students as well as serious alcohol and drug policy violations and significant previous conduct history,’ according to a university statement on Friday.

The university’s Office of Student Conduct and Delta Kappa Epsilon International investigated the allegations before the suspension and withdrawal.

The suspension means the fraternity chapter loses all privileges as a recognized student organization. It cannot ‘participate, attend or organize any functions, activities or events, or participate in university-wide events as an organization,’ according to a university statement.
