A Penn State student was charged with felony burglary and criminal trespass after allegedly entering two Ferguson Township apartments.
Ferguson Township Police were dispatched at 12:44 a.m. Sunday to The Park at State College apartments on Blue Course Drive for a report of a man attempting to get into several apartments. Upon arrival, officers saw a man exiting a ground floor bedroom window. They observed that the window screen had been pried open, with the window blinds were being pulled out as he exited, according to police.
Officers caught up with the man and found he matched the description provided by dispatch. He was identified as Mayukh Bhowmick, a 21-year-old Penn State student. Bhowmick allegedly admitted to entering two apartments, both of which were occupied at the time, through an unlocked door and an unlocked window.
Police are continuing to investigate and are trying to determine if any other apartments were entered. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Ferguson Township Police Department at 1-800-479-0050.
Bhowmick was arraigned before District Judge Carmine Prestia and charged with one felony count of burglary, two felony counts of criminal trespass and one summary count of criminal mischief. He was released on $50,000 bail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Nov. 30.
