Now that production is in full swing at Penn State’s one-acre Student Farm, The Student Farm Club will host its first Harvest Festival for the community on Wednesday, Sept. 7. The festival is free and open to the public.

The event will take place from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at The Student Farm, which is located at the intersection of Fox Hollow Road and Big Hollow Road. There will be fresh samples of food from the farm, along with cooking demonstrations from Campus Dining’s Chef Stephane and Chef Mark. In addition, guests can go on a tour of the farm and take part in hands-on activities. Local musician Eric Ian Farmer will play a live show starting at 6:30 p.m.

“We’ve involved a whole village to envision and establish a Student Farm on campus over the past few years,” Sustainable Student Farm Design Coordinator Leslie Pillen said in a release. “The Harvest Festival is a big thank you to everyone who has contributed, and the event also embodies our mission to educate about the food system, foster community, and increase local foods access.”

Guests attending the event are encouraged to wear sturdy shoes and bring their own lawn chairs.
